Ask your dog and the answer will probably be: โ€œMore.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜„

The bowl is empty in seconds, those eyes come up, and suddenly youโ€™re wondering:

โ€œWas that enough?โ€

Hereโ€™s the simple answer:

There is no one fixed quantity of wet food that works for every dog.

How much your dog needs depends mainly on:

their weight, age, activity level, body condition and the wet food youโ€™re feeding.

That last part matters because different wet foods contain different amounts of energy. So 100 g of one food may not be the same as 100 g of another.

So where do you start?

Start with the feeding guide on the pack.

Find your dogโ€™s weight and use the recommended quantity as your starting point.

Then watch your dog over the next couple of weeks.

If their weight stays stable, they have a visible waist, you can comfortably feel their ribs, and their energy is good, youโ€™re probably feeding close to the right amount.

If theyโ€™re steadily gaining weight, reduce the portion slightly.

If theyโ€™re losing weight when they shouldnโ€™t be, the amount may need to go up โ€” or it may be worth speaking to your vet.

Thatโ€™s really the answer.

The packet gives you a starting point. Your dog tells you whether itโ€™s right.

So donโ€™t worry about finding one โ€œperfectโ€ number on the internet.

Look at:

Your dog โ†’ their weight โ†’ the feeding guide โ†’ their body condition.

And adjust gradually from there.

Because the goal isnโ€™t to give the biggest bowl.

Itโ€™s to give the right amount for your dog. ๐Ÿ’œ
